R61 Fan -- 42W2780 vs 42W2779

Hi all

I'm yet again replacing the fan in my R61 (15.4", nvidia) after the previous replacement crapped out. The listed FRU is 42W2780. The 42W2779 is physically compatible, and is in fact sold online interchangeably with the 80. I understand, however, that the 80 is in fact a more powerful fan. I specifically ordered from a site that specified the 42W2780 (and paid a significant premium), but opened the box to find a 79. What I'm wondering is: Is there enough of a difference to bother waiting several weeks for the 80? Has anyone here compared the two? I would hate to have my laptop out of commission any longer, but if the 80 really is appreciably better, I just might wait.

Welcome to the forum.
The 42W2779 is for Intel integrated graphics (not for nVidia!) and the 42W2780 is for nVidia graphics (but will also work on Intel graphics).
So you need the xx80 model.

Thanks. It's extremely frustrating, because 99% of fans listed as being the 80 are in fact the 79, and because they're physically compatible most people don't notice. It's almost impossible to find a real one.
