hi folks,
I have a W701 with the 1440x900 lcd, and I was hoping to see if it is possible to swap it out for a 1920x1200 screen ? I have tried googling & cannot find anyone who has documented that it is do-able by simply buying the 1920x1200 screen (which is quite readily available on ebay these days). I understand from some postings that the lcd I have is CCFL, and the 1920x1200 found on some W701 are RGB led ?
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
cheers,
Boone

Welcome to the forum!
Both WXGA+ and WUXGA panels should be LED according to thinkwiki.org. So it should be a direct swap, (a WUXGA panel from a W700 won't work IIRC!)
The model # you need is LTN170CT08-L01, FRU 42T0787.

Re: Swapping W701 screen from 1440x900 to 1920x1200
Welcome to the forum.
All W701 screens have LED backlight and use the same LED controller board.
For WUXGA you need a different LCD cable from WXGA+.
The screen is made by Samsung, model LTN170CT08-L01 and has Lenovo P/N 42T0787
Be VERY careful where you buy the new screen!
The stuff on eBay seems to be just "100% compatible" and has dead pixels.
They also say: replacement for...
NOT good and NOT recommendable.

Thanks for the warm welcome & greetings
And, wow, what a wealth of knowledge ... I've certainly come to the right place for information !
Now, I'm feeling quite excited about the prospect of upgrading my screen to 1920x1200. Thanks very much for the heads-up on what to look out for & I'm going to do more research before attempting this.
Have a great day all you wonderful people !!!
