W530 won't hibernate

#1 Post by cptdondo » Thu Jun 05, 2014 10:20 pm

I am trying to get my W530 to hibernate. It won't.

I am running Win7; I tried the KB article to enable hibernation, but no dice. It will sleep, it will shut down, but it won't hibernate.

When I run Ubuntu 14.04, same thing. It will sleep, shut down, but will not hibernate.

The only thing I can think of is that I did something when I repartitioned the drive, but I get no errors, and no hibernation.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

So far I've tried:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920730

and this:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 3999ddddb8

for Windows.

If I issue a

shutdown /h

I get an error about a missing file, and the comuter sleeps but does not hibernate.

I can get it to hibernate in linux, but on restore the screen comes up black.

Grrrr....

So far I've set it up to shut down on lid close instead of hibernate on lid close. That part works for both OSs.
