T400 WXGA+ (non led) Proper LCD cable?

#1 Post by ryan1212 » Sun Jun 08, 2014 8:30 pm

I purchased this thinkpad from the outlet in 2009; the type is 2767-11U. The cable going to the LCD has never "felt right"; it always had a buldge under the top of the keyboard and the plastic piece on the bottom of the cable that is supposed to fit inside the window underneath the battery to hold it from moving has never been lined up, even when I first got the machine.

Years later, I get random lines in the LCD screen and the wifi light intermittenly works. When I take it apart and wiggle the cable it gets better\worse so I think the cable is bad. The FRU of the cable installed in mine is 44C1335. It does have bluetooth and a connector for a camera that is taped over (I do not have a webcam)

Interestingly enough, when I look at the HMM it says the proper cable is either FRU 44C5363 (bluetooth, no webcam) or 44C5362 (bluetooth and webcam)

Any idea what is up with the cable that was installed when it shipped to me? Is it indeed the improper cable, and what should I replace it with?

Improper cable wouldn't work. It's really that simple.

There are numerous FRUs for just about any part for most ThinkPads, and not all of them are listed in the HMM.
