Ok, so I just ordered my T60 14.1" off of eBay, heres a link to it, http://www.ebay.com/itm/181435331489?ss ... 1497.l2649
I was reading about FrankenPads, and was wondering if there was like a guide on how to convert one? I would like to use a T61 if possible. I was going to use it for some light gaming(OLD GAMES). Thanks!
How to make a FrankenPad?
Re: How to make a FrankenPad?
Welcome to thinkpads.com! Looks like you have a nice little ThinkPad there. Welcome to the club!
Everything you need to know is on this forum. Just search for thread on FrankenPad and you'll be all set.
Basically what folks have done is use a 15" "T60 with a UXGA FlexView display and swap a 14" T61 system board into the 15" chassis so they can use a CPU that's a bit more powerful, and install more RAM than a T60 can handle. It's mostly about the FlexView display though. Your 14" T60 is not really a Frankenpad candidate. Best to just make the best of it as it is.

Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E
Re: How to make a FrankenPad?
Generally speaking, a Frankenpad is a modded ThinkPad using parts from a different model ThinkPad. Someone putting a FlexView LCD from a T60 into a R60, the R60 would be considered a Frankenpad.
You should probably note, the nVidia boards from the T61, I assume this is what you want for gaming, are flawed and more prone to failure due to the repeated/heating cooling cycles of the GPU. You might be better off sticking with a T60 board with a dedicated GPU. A lot depends on what you want from your T60, though you weren't very forthcoming about it. A little more information about what you want would be helpful.
