Finding an x230 and upgrading to an IPS display

I've been searching for a x230 with the backlit keyboard, IPS display, and an i7 processor. Going through this document http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/tabook.pdf I determined that the 2324-8AU model is the one I should be looking for. Unfortunately, and somewhat expected, it's been impossible to find so far. I might have a lead on a 2324-9BU model, it just doesn't have an IPS display.

Could anyone confirm whether there will be any issues replacing the display with an IPS panel?

And will this void the warranty?

Nope, that's an easy plug & play swap.

Theoretically, yes.

In real life...it depends on a number of factors.

I would think it easier to find an IPS i7 X230 and replace the keyboard than the LCD if that's what you want. Replacing the keyboard won't void the warranty either.

So far I haven't had any luck finding one nearby. Just the model I mentioned without the IPS panel :/

Perhaps you should look at the i5. There's little practical difference between the i5 and i7, unless you're pushing the CPU at or near capacity frequently and even then, it won't be that much.

You could also search for 2320-JCU, 2324-89U, 2325-88U. These all combine i7, backlit keyboard and IPS display.

And like was said - it should be easier to replace the keyboard than the screen. And the difference between i5 and i7 is not a big deal. For the X220, only the i7 models has USB3, so it was worth it to search for them. But on X230, all models come with USB3.

Thanks, all. I'll most likely be running a couple of VMs and have a few browser tabs open. The majority of other tools that I'll be using will be command line on Arch Linux so hopefully that should make a difference. I found one model close by that has an IPS panel, 8 gigs RAM, and a i5-3210M processor *fingers crossed* No SSD but that I'll add later.
