Well, thats what Apple can do best - sell things better then others. iPad being the best example, the PC industry and Microsoft struggled years to build the Tablet PC market and sell these back then clunky Tablets to customers, and Apple comes, takes the idea, and sells millions...

The layout is a whole another matter.

For those of us that were unhappy with the changes made, only two routes remain:

a) Accept the change - to which I say "heck, no" - but to each their own.

b) Vote with your wallet and take your business elsewhere. No, there isn't a 7-row keyboard available on any laptop that is currently available. But the very fact that one now must re-learn how to type opens the world of possibilities and opportunities...
Yeah, I voted with my wallet already. Instead of considering the idea of getting a Broadwell T450 (which I'm pretty sure won't have a decent keyboard and Trackpoint as Lenovo seems to be deaf to our complains), I decided to just build a nice desktop instead.

I'm already regretting going intel though, I should have gone AMD. Bought a B85 motherboard and it seems like they are going to skip support for Broadwell. How is it possible that Z97 supports both Haswell and Broadwell but B85 supports only Haswell? We all know that Sandy Bridge laptops support Ivy Bridge at hardware level, just like desktops. It's just that intel decided that we should buy a new laptop instead.

Don't give your love to someone who doesn't love you. And don't give your money to companies that don't respect you as a customer.

I bet you money you paid far less for the B85 board than you would have for the Z97, didn't you? You pay less - you get less features. Support for higher-end processors may be one of those features. It's probably not a hardware limitation (although I don't know about this particular case, as I never studied it). It's a marketing decision. Just one way to convince people to buy the high-end products.

They may have just as well only released the Z97 and not give you any option to pay less.

While you're at it, ask Microsoft why you don't get all the features of Windows Ultimate when you buy the Home Basic license. It's all on the same CD anyways. :)
