Has anybody tried an 802.11ac card in a classic Thinkpad? They would, of course, require a hacked or Middleton BIOS.
Rummaging through eBay shows many cards with 2x2 diversity. Oddly, there are no 3x3, as is common with earlier a/b/g/n cards.

I don't think that there are any 3x3 AC cards currently available...
Someone did install one in a T60 if I'm not mistaken:
