Re: looking at gettng this Lenovo x201 Tablet UltraBook i7-
Some major BS in there:
Lenovo says:
Two questions here:
a) What makes you say that X200 is a 32-bit system? The CPU is most certainly a 64-bit one, and you can install any 64-bit OS that you deem fit.
b) What was the asking price for this X201T?
The screen is 12", 1280x800. Period.-14.1-inch (16:10) widescreen LED backlit display has a 1440 x 900 display resolution - multi-touch technology
Lenovo says:
Code: Select all

i7-640LM(2.13GHz), 4GB RAM, 320GB 7200rpm HD, 12.1in 1280x800 LCD, Intel HD Graphics, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 8c Li-Ion, Win7 Pro 64a) What makes you say that X200 is a 32-bit system? my current X200 is 7453-WGM it has the framless screen and had vista Business in it but its not a 64bits system.ajkula66 wrote:Some major BS in there:

b) What was the asking price for this X201T?
Tried to install win 7 64bit it would not install and chip set ID's as 32 bit.
My other on is x200 is 7453-AA7 and is 64 bit with Win 7 pro on it is the framed multi-touch one .
I want the non-multi-touch framless screen and 64.
They are asking $349 with the Ultrabase plus it seems to have the 3g card but can't get them tell me if the picture is of the unit as the show one with the frameless screen..
I was wondering if could not switch out screens but that may not work as i know how some Lenovo part don't work with newer.
This why trust people on here.
I could see the BS on the screen but I think they are listing with some else specs as they ref this one site that isn't connected to them http://superwarehouse.com/Lenovo_ThinkP ... /p/1617929 it's not the same system but in model number.
The build there seems off too unless they were Build to someone specs and need. but that would put them at more $$$ than $349
I can deal with the screen having the edge but want to see the pdf on the model builds that Lenovo did before buy.
If this system was as good it look I jump on it as it would be an good upgrade and I would pass the 32bit to my brother who just wants laptop.
I like the thought of the i5 or i7 duel core just in speed just want to get something that will work right fist time.
Ok thanks

I dropped a Win7 Ultimate DVD in and it said the system was not 64 bit. Everest is saying it the same CPU as the other but a 32 bit dose list instruction sets for more. not sure why it not showing up when loading the OS.

Especially for the fact that you won't gain that much horsepower going from X200T to X201T, and there will be a loss in battery life.
If you really want to move to a newer system, X220T is the way to go.
My $0.02 only...

What was thinking if the one system isn't work at 64bit for what ever reason i like to get a system that is with the same screen type .
If it has more power great. My main reason for the screen is i like the framless hard corning screen.
And then pass the older system to my brother as well.
So which CPU and models should look for? The framless screen and a webcam and being 64bit is the major needs.
I'll look at the X220T and see what i find.
thanks

Not in real life...first generation Core i CPUs are power hogs.cybercorsair wrote: thought X201 still had the 7 hour and the X220t went to 5hrs?
Well, making the "old" system work under a 64-bit OS is definitely going to be a lot cheaper than buying a new system. And it's definitely doable. What was thinking if the one system isn't work at 64bit for what ever reason i like to get a system that is with the same screen type
No idea in the models, but all of them are 64-bit capable. i7 units will run hot.So which CPU and models should look for? The framless screen and a webcam and being 64bit is the major needs.
X220T is easy: it's either a multitouch or a Corningware Gorilla Glass outdoor model that supports pen only. Everything else is honestly far less important if you know what type of screen you want.I'll look at the X220T and see what i find.
i7 variety offers USB 3.0 where the rest of them doesn't, but it will run quite hot in my experience.
Happy shopping.

I'll look at my systems again to see what up.. there wasn't any jumper to set for the OS right? i tried a lot of other 64bit install none want to install.. Could be a bad CPU on the X200t 7453-WGM? I have had zero issue on it.
How are the i5 chips sets or should look at the second gen?
Thanks for the info This gives me some to work with .

I have no clue on why you're having this problem. The CPU is definitely 64-bit capable.cybercorsair wrote:I'll look at my systems again to see what up.. there wasn't any jumper to set for the OS right? i tried a lot of other 64bit install none want to install..
A bad CPU equals a completely dead - as in "no signs of life" - machine 99.99% of the time , so I'd say "no". Something else is amiss there.Could be a bad CPU on the X200t 7453-WGM?
It really depends on what your priorities are.How are the i5 chips sets or should look at the second gen?
If you're OK with 16:9 on X220, you should look into those machines. I like them a lot better than X201, but YMMV.
It also depends on what you're looking to spend...X220T will easily cost twice as much as X201T...

Re: looking at gettng this Lenovo x201 Tablet UltraBook i7-
Don't have lot to spend but i look at systems like mine and seeing a few at lower price than the $349.99 the one X201 was going for. I use the 8 cell battery for my systems and i do have the docking station so not too worked on power but still Heat could be an issue on hot days.
seen some X220 around $299 up some at up. No look at the X230 tables the price is all over all seem to have the screen i don't want.
Will have to get into my one system as see what is going on.. I tried all version of
windows and Linux not one would load for 64 bit. even the sticker for the Vista isn't showing 64bit or 32bit.

A fellow member had a similar problem with T410, turned out to be an issue with RAM:cybercorsair wrote:

Because the COA is valid for BOTH 32 and 64-bit installs...even the sticker for the Vista isn't showing 64bit or 32bit.

Yes I even change out the hard drive from the old one to a new one and installed clean. It would not see the 64 bit install .
Did try something last night too out the extra ram to see if it would boot a 64bit Linux distro. It did .. well kind of there was some kind of crash last part then it booted but i not sure it when onto a x86 more. Going to pull and try the original drive i have on the work bench and see if it lets me install the 64bit.
I see these units with more that 4gb in them so could it be I need the right ram type? This 4gb is a the same speed but not the same make.
Ok well will keep look at what is going on. and keep look at other newer systems too..
thanks

The x220t with i7 doesn't have a USB 3.0. Only the i7 x220 has it.
