problem with no 1802 on t40

#1 Post by pablonice » Wed Jul 16, 2014 9:10 pm

Hi all,

Writing hoping to get some sage advice. I have a T40 which I installed a new motherboard on. No problem, except I needed to run no1802 because the new board threw up a nonIBM wireless adapter error. I ran it and it worked. However, months later I disconnected CMOS battery which meant that I need to run no1082 again.

Now the problem enters. When I try to run no1082 off the CD/DVD drive the computer is not reading it. I tried burning it to a CDR and CDRW, both with the same results. I've switched the DVD out with one that I know is working and still nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe something really obvious that I am overlooking? I was SO CLOSE to getting the up and running again and now I am back to square 1. Months of frustration. If anyone could help I would be so indebted.

Yrs,
Brian

Your problem might be a Southbridge chip coming loose.
This is well-known and well-documented, search the T4x forum.
