Harddisk compatibility issue with T43p
Harddisk compatibility issue with T43p
Hi all,
I've got a summer project which it to get an old T43p up and running for my mother to use. It is in good working order but needed a new hard drive installed. I've got a Hitachi 20gb that I'm going to put into it. However, for some reason it is not recognizing the drive. I know thinkpads can be a bit finicky about their drives but I thought Hitachi's were always a good bet. Anyone have any idea what it could be? Is it possible that the BIOS of the t43p (15 inch version) has a different white list than the regular t43?
Thanks so much for any advice you might have.
Yrs,
Brian

Do you have the drive properly secured in its caddy with all four screws, and fully inserted with a *proper* HD cover, since they are different between 14" and 15" models?

Also, T4x drives must go in upside down (label to the table).

Nope. Nothing to do with the issue at hand. OP's machine is not seeing the hard drive at all.coors wrote:Here's a page that might help: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_w ... hard_disks
pablonice: is the HDD cover that you're using a proper 15" one?

Re: harddisk compatibility issue with T43p
Considering the age of HDD, it could be the HDD is dead. Put it into an external drive enclosure and see if it works.
