T40 - Help : No Boot, Black Screen, Fan Running Fast??

I have recently acquired a T40 to add to my Thinkpad "collection".

The T40 has the following issues:

- Does not boot into BIOS - just a black screen
- Fan is running very fast all the time at switch on
- The power and battery charge LED's light up
- Battery charges and LED changes from yellow to green when battery full
- If I put my ear to the case, I can hear the hard drive making a few clicks at switch on

I have tried removing the battery and pressing the power key 10x and then for 30 secs but still no boot.

Any ideas? Maybe its a corrupted BIOS or dry joint?

Any fixes?
