A lot actually.. at least I think so.

2 Batteries, a mouse, power brick and cord, dial up phone cord, and I could probably squeeze a card or two in there as well. The piggy back is also lined with two inside pockets that have neoprene or ballistic texture like the sleevecase. The pockets seem to fit things like cards, keys, or even a mouse.

Very nice. 8)

After looking at lots of Sleeves, I picked the SFBags unit.
For my T43p with extended battery, they suggested the 17" model.

Looking forward to getiing it tomm.

With overnight delivery it was $98

I just checked out the sfbags website. It suggests a 15" T42 with extended battery should be mated with the Size 17 WaterField sleevecase. Isn't the T43 15" and T42 15" the same size? I'm looking to get a T43 that has the 9-cell battery, and I'm trying to decide between the Size 15 and 17. One of the photos suggests that the 15" ThinkPad with 9-cell battery would be a very tight fit. Is Size 17 the way to go then?

I received a WaterField Sleevecase (Size 15) for my T43 (with 15" screen).I have posted some photos to show the excellent snug fit that this sleevecase provides with either a 6-Cell Regular and a 9-Cell Extended Battery. The quality is great, the fit is glovelike, and the closing tab is secure.

The pictures are posted at http://bemorecreative.com/sleevecase.htm

I got the T43p with extended battery. I thought, too that the Sleeve 15 was correct but they called me and suggested the 17. Do not know if that is because I insisted on horizonal config or not.

Well, whatever, it will arrive today and the TP is sitting on the desk, waiting to be protected. I will post results today. I did tell the people that I did NOT want to fight to get my T43p out of the sleeve but I also did not want it bigger than was required. These are nice people who, from there call, care about what you are getting.

Will post my thoughts today when my sleeve arrives today.

Baertracks' photos of his T43 appear to show a horizontal orientation on the WaterField sleevecase. Thanks to him and to Greg for their input. I look forward to seeing how Greg's (is it the Size 17, then?) turns out.

I am very satisfied with my Booq PowerSleeve 14. The only complain I have is that the power brick will stretch the front pocket a little. However usually I either don't bring the power brick, or bring a separate pouch for it and my mouse and headphones.

17" sleeve arrived today. Nice. Excellent build quality. Inside is more than soft enough to protect your Pad from any scratches. Using it in the horiz. config it fit somewhat snug on the sides. There is about 3/4' to spare at the top of the case. This is with the T43p WITH the extended 9 cell battery. Could not ask for a better fit.

If anyone wants to see images I will take some tonight. Not the cheapest case but well built. The Boog looked good also but I like the cleaner look of this one better. Everyone has their own tastes.

Please post photos, Greg. I'm THIS close to ordering a T42, as the estimated ship date for the T43 model I had been eyeing is three weeks! I'd probably opt for the Size 17 myself, and am considering the large Cargo bag as well. I've ordered from sfbags in the past, and I'm pleased with the service there.

Give ImageShack a try.
No accounts needed, just upload the pic(s) & it spits out a unique link for each picture.

OK, here are the images of the WaterField Sleevecase

#44 Post by Greg Gebhardt » Wed Jun 15, 2005 5:49 pm

First image is the WaterField 17” Sleevecase . It is really well made and fits my T43p with 9cell extended battery perfectly. The Velcro that hold the flap down is the heavy commercial type.
http://www.pbase.com/greggebhardt/image/44861106

Next image is my T43p sitting on top of the sleeve to give you an idea about the size. For me it is perfect and does not require a lot of effort inserting or removing my TP from the case. I really like the Ballistic Nylon outer shell and it should give many years of service.
http://www.pbase.com/greggebhardt/image/44861117

Side view of the sleeve with T43p partially inserted. Notice the ring at the bottom center of the case. It is for pulling the sleeve off the TP with ease.
http://www.pbase.com/greggebhardt/image/44861120

This images shows the T43p fully inserted with the flap open. Notice that the T43p has ¾” to spare at the top.
http://www.pbase.com/greggebhardt/image/44861134

The last image is a back view that show the pocket in the top for slipping a few documents or a folder in. The “D” rings at the top is for the shoulder strap which I left at the office. I am not a big shoulder strap person but thought I would get it in case I changed my mind.

Great pics! 8)

I have had a more than a handful of bags and sleeves and just as I think the Shinza is made for CL56, I believe the Waterfields make a perfect fit for the Thinkpad. It is so snug, good thing there is a loop on the bottom of the bag.. or one may not get it out!

Very happy with the expensive purchase.. costly, but worth every penny.

Greg, thanks so much for posting the great pics. Now that the sleevecase issue has been dealt with, I find myself back to the 14" vs. 15" ThinkPad problem! Enjoy your new sleevecase.

By the way, responding to an earlier comment, the 14" Booq powersleeve fits a 14.1 9-cell T series PERFECTLY. The 6-cell is comfortable, but the 9-cell is a perfect fit. Nice bag, too.

I am looking around for a backpack for my soon-to-arrive T43p 2668-G7U with the extended battery.

The IBM Tabook says that the 14.1" model has dimensions 12.1" x 10.0" x 1.2". Does that include the extended battery sticking out the end ?

If someone who has a 14.1" T43p with the extended battery could please post the dimensions of their machine, I would greatly appreciate it.

BTW, my current favourites for the backpack are the 2003 Boa.XM (http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=82) and a Kenneth Cole pack (http://www.zappos.com/n/p?dp=4738029&c=3).

Thanks!
