Removing stripped screw

#1 Post by brucehe » Mon Aug 11, 2014 5:43 pm

Hello all,

I am opening up the lid of a T400 to fix the latch and a top corner screw holding the bezel on spins in place. The plastic lid is cracked a bit in that location and maybe the metal frame. I imagine the brass boss is spinning in the metal frame.

I was going to use a dremel tool to remove the screw head and then see what it looks like from there. Any other ideas?

thanks,

Bruce

The dremel tool with a ball end cutter worked. I just took the head of the screw off; however it is very easy to slip and hit the plastic bezel. I also used a vacuum to suck up the metal filings.

The metal rod attaching the two latches had slipped off of the plastic tab. Not sure how that happened, put it back and it is fine.
