x200s battery cell replacement

#1 Post by lostdude » Wed Aug 13, 2014 7:06 am

Hi guys,

recently my x200s 6 cell battery died and nolonger holds enough charge so I watched some youtube videos replaced the cells with some good panansoic lithium ion ones.

Problem is now the battery is just as bad as before, the capacity is the same as before I replaced the cells around 9wH instead of the full charge capacity around 56wH.

It seems I need to reset the memory on the battery controller, is there a way of doing this manually?

replacement cells where panasonic 3400mah geniune lithium ion cells.

In the Power Mgmt (on my X200s with W7) there is an option to reset the battery.

Yeah I've tried that as we'll.
Interestingly when I do this I can actually see the charge increase to about 50wH but as soon as I disconnect the ac charger the battery drains very quickly.

Replacing the cells is one thing, but if you have interrupt the circuit even once during this, your gauge 'control-electronics' die.
Doesn't look good.
