Thinkpad servicing criteria

I still have warranty on my T23 till April next year and my unfortunately it has developed some faults and would like to bring it back to IBM for servicing. IBM replied to me that I need proof of purchase for my thinkpad to be service....but however I bought it from e-bay and don;t have any receipt on it. Is it ok......to bring to IBM without the proof of purchase?
Can anyone tell me where is IBm situated in the UK?

you can check the warranty status online..
not sure if tjhis will work for UK models..

you should not need an original invoice as the warranty follows the thinkpad..
