middle button scroll bug

#1 Post by j-dawg » Mon Sep 08, 2014 12:47 pm

i lost my middle-button scroll (X201, touchpad and trackpoint) for a few minutes and was worried. below is my current ultranav tab in the mouse control panel page. note that this works for me - i have trackpoint control and the middle button does the thinkpad scroll. the trackpad does nothing.

i wanted to play around with "tap zones" but apparently you can't use these and trackpoint middle button scrolling at the same time for some reason. i really like trackpoint scrolling so i tried to disable the track pad....and i didn't get my middle button scrolling back!

the solution is to move the radio button for the trackpad back to "Use as pointing device with advanced features" even though you uncheck Enable TouchPad". this is clearly a bug - if the touchpad is disabled, it shouldn't matter which touchpad behavior option is selected. took me a few minutes and a reboot to figure out, so hopefully it can be helpful to someone. (i suspect this is what was going on in http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=109978)

incidentally, is there any way to make "tap zones" work while retaining trackpoint middle button scrolling? seems like a useful feature, and i'm not using my touchpad for anything else.
