I have an 80GB 7200rpm Seagate drive an a superdrive IBM caddy for it. If I bought a T43 without a Hard Drive on Ebay. Could I use that as the main drive? My T43p is sick and I have so many toys for it. The SSD is an interesting option but with these old computers, I would stick with the PATA or SATA drives. I didn't even know you could add SSD drives to the T43's.
I need a project and I saw T43's without Hard Drives for around $40. Considering this is a project thread, any thoughts on my scenario. Also, I wiped my 40gb drive and it says the original drive is still good.
What HDs should I use in a T43?

Re: T43p: Which HDD-SSD process should I follow?
T43/T43p only take PATA drives in their main drive bay (unless it has been SATA-modded).
You can get T4x-Ultrabay adapters for SATA drives (HD or SSD).
Your eBay "projects" may be sold so cheap because they might have other problems, such as a loose GPU or Southbridge...

Re: T43p: Which HDD-SSD process should I follow?
I have an UltraBay that uses the ATA-6 PATA that is the same as the internal HD bay. IT's the 7200 Seagate that was supposed to work on the T43. If I test the waters and part out a T43 from my existing T43 for my project. Could I theoretically have a master boot HD from the ultrabay with the 80GB drive that I already have?
I have so many parts that is why I feel I need to restore my T43 or find one that boots and use it for good. I have a brand new T43 keyboard that I never got to use because my T43 died on me.

Re: What HDs should I use in a T43?
FYI: Ultrabay adapters are available for both PATA and SATA.
The PATA drive from the Ultrabay will fit in the PATA main drive bay, no problem, as long as you use a HD-caddy and screws.
But I doubt very much that you can boot from that drive AS-IS in the main bay.
You'll probably have to re-install the OS again.
