Update Status: T6x/p FrankenPad Sales in the UK

Afternoon All,

Apologies for my extended hiatus from the forum but unfortunately myself and a couple other members of my immediate family have been quite ill & it had pretty much put a damper on any plans I had made. As per my previous post last year, I am looking to sell on a number of complete laptops (along with parts) which also include a few FrankenPads.

The first FrankenPad to be listed will be a unit with an Intel GPU MB (FRU: 42W7872) extracted from a T61 4:3 8895-CTO (PDI: 8895-W27) transferred over to the shell of a T60p 15" shell with an UXGA LCD - presently I'm installing the Middleton BIOS onto the unit, sorting out an Intel WiFi Card along with secure erasing the HDD for the resale.

A formal listing will be created later on this week, along with digital photos, for the rough sum of £300.00p - that amount will cover shipping within the UK but outwith of the UK will need to be looked at further (I'm not sure on the various costs involved with shipping to the rest of the Europe & the US). The basic unit will come with 500GB 5400RPM HDD, 4GB RAM (2x2DDR2 SOMDIMMs), Intel C2D T9500 CPU and I'll list upgrade options available once I've finished off all of the testing i.e. if purchased at full price I'll max out the RAM to 8GB, switch out the HDD with a Crucial M500 SSD (updated firmware installed) or a used Samsung 830 SSD, etc.

I am playing catch-up just now so please bear with me, as there at least three other working FrankenPads but I will need to replace the structure frame for two of them due to cracks beside rear-left of the frames along with obtaining additional Intel C2D T9300 CPUs for them as well - that doesn't include other units and parts that I have as well.

NOTE: There were a number of interested parties last year, so I'll need to go through the messages and the original listing to confirm the order of first interest if those members are still active.

I would be very interested in this, hard to find decent thinkpads in the UK that arent knackered or sitting at really high prices.

No probs mate - unfortunately everything went off the deep-end but thankfully I'm getting back on my feet.

Will definitely keep you in mind mate, as I've hit a few problems at the weekend (family related) but the basic stats and pictures will be up before the weekend - it will be two initial FrankenPads, with the first being the UXGA unit and the second being an SXGA+, with both of them running with Intel GPU MBs.
