T42: Detect screen resolution in Linux

I installed Zorin-9-lite on an old T42 and it works like a charm.
However it runs only with VESA 1024x768.

I am "only rather sure" to remember that in its bygone XP-days it showed a SXGA+ 1400x1050 resolution.

How can I check whether it has really SXGA+ (w/o reinstalling XP) ???

What is the 7-character model number of your T42, located on the same sticker that holds the serial # and the production date on the bottom of the laptop?

or get the inxi program from your distros repo and run inxi -gv

The sticker says: TYPE 2373-L1G S/N L3-10R7K 06/06

The graphics chip is an ATI Mobility Radeo 7500
The CPU is a Pentium M 1.7 GHz
The BIOS version is 1RETDOWW (3.20) dated 2/27/2006

^^ That machine came with a XGA screen so the OS is reporting properly.

I also let inxi -G run, same result.

Nevertheless the T42 is a "good old workhorse". I am glad to see it revived with Lubuntu, or Zorin-OS now.
