Whre is the gyro/accelerometer/"freefall" sensor?Mine brokn!

#1 Post by bwsb » Mon Oct 06, 2014 10:08 am

My gyro/accelerometer/"freefall" sensor gives random output, as shown by this debug tool: http://cache.freescale.com/files/sensor ... n8View.exe

So basically all the compass and, "Quaternion" and "3D Inclinometer" just start pumping out random values.

This sensor raging leads to my touchpad and keyboards locking!

* Is this sensor soldered directly onto the mainboard?
(I tried unplugging the "Proximity sensor" on the mainboard, and that did clearly not disconnect the gyro/accelerometer/freefall sensor.)

* What's a good way to make Windows not lock the touchpad&keyboard for a machine with a broken sensor?

Thanks!

If you have an SSD, you should uninstall it, it only works with rotating HDs.

RealBlackStuff, thank you for your response -

I did not address anything about the relation between the sensor and the storage media, only the relation between the sensor and the keyboard and touchpad.

I learned something: frequently this sensor is called the "Sensor Hub", and in the BIOS, you can disable the OS' access to it. Perhaps in the Windows devices list also, you can find the Sensor Hub and disable it there.

Now again to the first question:

This device, is it soldiered directly onto the system board?

I only know some things about real Thinkpads.
Since the Yoga is not a real one, sorry, can't help you.
Never even seen one.
