ultrabay SSD not mounted in linux

#1 Post by amaarouf » Fri Oct 10, 2014 8:13 am

Dear All,

I have two x301's, one having linux mint 17, and one with Win7. I recently got a an ultrabay drive caddy to be able to use my Samsung 840 250GB SSD. The SSD was running fine in another T60p. The SSD can be mounted externally though a USB adapter. In the linux x301, with the ultrabay caddy, the SSD can "sometimes" be mounted. Frequently, it would show as a drive in "computer", but I am unable to mount it. I tried it in the Win 7 x301, and there it is appears as an unallocated space.

Could this be a caddy problem? I tried to unplug it and clean the port and the drive itself, but it didnt fix the problem. Any idea? The SSD drive itself has a dual boot system with linux and win XP. Could that be the problem? But why does it work flawlessly if connected externally through a USB adapter?

Any help is most appreciated.

Thanks
Ahmed

You might find something useful in this thread:

Personally, I've never gotten my x301 Ultrabay to work reliably in any number of x301 machines.
Others have...
X301 -- X201s -- X2faux1s -- X201 -- x230 -- T61 -- T60p -- T42p
