Starting beeps on Thinkpad 600

#1 Post by Retro67 » Tue May 24, 2005 12:32 pm

Guys, when I boot up my 600 into setup mode, there are loud beeps every time a click a window. Is there any way to go into the system and turn the sound off so that it doesnt make these beeps? This is before Windows boots, of course.

Many thanks,

Frank

Hold down the Fn key along with the key at the top right hand corner of the keypad indicating volume reduction.

There's also some settings in Windows that allow control over the beeps when you change volume (the Fn-key combo), close the lid, and (I think) the bootup beep.

In 98SE, they're in the power management setting somewhere. I used them to turn off the volume change beeps on mine.

Have a look around - you might turn something up.
