Earlier this year, I bought a R61 with a LCD that produces images with a noticeable yellow tint. This week I bought a used LCD panel and it's doing the same thing.
R61: 14.1in, Intel X3100
Old panel: Samsung LTN141W1-L05 WXGA
New used panel: LG LP141WP1-TLB8 WXGA+
It's possible that the used LCD panel is also worn out but is there anything else that could make images appear with yellow tint?

Welcome to the forum.
All old screens turn yellow eventually, some faster than others.
So you may have gotten a much-used screen again.
14.1" screens were never famous for good pictures, though...

I guess I'll contact the seller to see if he'll do anything about it.
Besides the yellow tint, it also has a really uneven backlight and makes my eyes hurt.
Do panels in 15.4" R61/T61 have better pictures?

Re: R61 LCD Yellow tint
They do.
One of the better ones is the 15.4" WSXGA+ screen at 1680x1050.
I happen to have a 15.4" T60p machine, that was upgraded to a T61 motherboard with Intel graphics.
ThinkPad T61 (6463-W34)
Based on 6463-CTO: T7300(2GHz), 4GB RAM, no HD, 15.4in 1280x800 1680x1050 LCD, Intel X3100, CDRW/DVD, 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, SD-card reader, 1394 Firewire, Fingerprint reader, no battery, no COA
The 1280x800 was upgraded to such a WSXGA+ screen, in perfect condition!
Middleton's BIOS has also been installed.
And that motherboard (42W7875) is Penryn-CPU capable, so you could put in a T8100/T8300/T9300/T9500, or even an X9000 CPU.
It has a brand new lid, and the inside only shows minimal signs of use.
I'd easily give it a 9 on a scale of 1-10 where 10 is best.
PM me if interested, I'd be happy to sell it to you for an attractive price!
