T41 and ipconfig command

#1 Post by krazykat » Tue Nov 04, 2014 12:01 am

Hi, Question about my T41.
I have a T41, running XP Pro, SP3. For reference, I am not receiving any error messages, blue screens, etc.

I wanted check the ip network status (thinking about a new router). Issued the CMD in the run menu and opened a command screen. Then issued the "ipconfig" command and received the following message:

Windows IP Configuration
An internal error occurred: A device attached to the system is not functioning.
Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help.
Additional information: Unknown media status code.

Not a lot of detail information

Any suggestions, links or trouble shooting tips?

Thanks
krazykat

If you cannot go online wirelessly, bad wifi card (under your palmrest) would be my guess!
Replace with e.g. Intel 2200BG.

IIRC, it's more likely the Ethernet device being in an inconsistent state.

Is there an Ethernet connection in the Device manager? Try disabling it if it's unused.

Seems like all my T4x series have done this at some point or another. I figured it was an XP issue but maybe it's buggered drivers (I always used the IBM ones).
