Anyone get T22 to boot from USB key?

#1 Post by Nolonemo » Tue May 24, 2005 10:51 pm

I have a usb key I formatted with Win 98 with system file transfer. Should I be able to boot the T22 with it? I have "removable device" at the top of the boot list, but the TP seems to ignore the presence of the key and go straight to booting XP off the HD. I can't see anything to change in the bios....

You can do it...I've done it but you'll have to use a utility to make your USB key bootable. After it is made so, then you can load up the Win98 Boot files. HP makes such a utility that works very well....do a search here and you'll find a posting with a link to its download.

Thanks, MIJ, I did use the HP utility to create a bootable key, the utility seemed to run OK, and I can see the DOS system files on the key, but I can't boot with it. I've tried using the F12 boot menu key, but the T22 doesn't seem to recognize the key as a removable device. I had read some posts about the key being recognized as a hard drive and having to select it as the boot drive by going into the BIOS, but when I go into the BIOS with the key in the USB slot, BIOS only displays the 20GB T22 hard drive.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

IIRC, the T23 was the first T series to support booting from USB.
