T60 father/son project. Looking for parts..

#1 Post by tfflivemb2 » Mon Nov 10, 2014 8:01 pm

So, unlike many guys, I'm not a motorhead. While digging through my Thinkpad stuff that I am selling, I found a T60 that someone locally gave me a year ago. Its in BAD shape, but to my surprise, I threw in an HD and ram and it works!!!

Soooooo, instead of rebuilding a car with my son, I decided we'd rebuild a thinkpad....cause he's geeky like me. He's 12 and loves to write code....you get the picture.

Anyway, I'm hoping someone has a bunch of T60 parts laying around and can part with cheaply....or in some cases willing to trade for some of the Legacy stuff that I am selling.

Some of the things we're looking for off the bat:
AC adapter
Palm rest
HD caddy
Battery

If you have something, let me know! Thanks!

I have some parts but it would be best to post what size T60 you have, in general the 14 and 15.4" parts are widely available but the 15" are often in demand.

I also have a very nice 14" model I'm going to be parting out.

On a personal note, I had a basement full of parts and did a similar project with my 6 and 8 year old children to build their first computers many years ago. I had them do ALL the work including assembly, formatting and loading XP, then configuring the PC's (desktops).

Awesome project and I hope the result is better then you were hoping for.

BTW: I have almost enough parts to build a T60 so if you need something, let me know. I might be able to help.

Common sense to some of us is unfortunately the higher education others strive to attain.

Thank you for the encouragement!

I may be interested in a 14" palm rest...if you have one.

Bump...

Just looking for a hard drive caddy and cover. And possibly a working battery. This one is completely dead.

Thank you all for the help so far....

T43 (type 2668) x2

It is a 14". I found a set on eBay for $3.40 shipped...but they sent the wrong cover. They are now sending the correct one.

I'll let you know in a few days, if I still need it. Thank you.
