My new and first pre-2010 Thinkpad.

#1 Post by thinkpadgeek91 » Mon Nov 17, 2014 6:57 pm

I bought this beautiful T61 on ebay for $60.
It's a T7100 1.8Ghz C2D
2GB DDR2, (upgraded to 4GB from spare parts)
60GB HD, (Upgraded to brand new spare 250GB Seagate)
Intel graphics.
Windows XP Pro (Upgraded to Win 7 Pro)

It's in beautiful shape and I have a T7700 on the way for it so I'm pretty happy.

Sorry for the blurry photos my iPhone has been acting up. I'm replacing it with a Droid Turbo this week.

Nice find. I can see as much form the picture that your T61 must have seen very little use over the years. And with the Intel graphics, your investment has the potential to last you quite a while. With the CPU you have on it's way, you will most likely also have computing resources that are adequate for average daily computing for quite some time still.

That is a nice looking T61. Yours has the Intel GPU which will (already mentioned) increase it's longevity far beyond any Nvidia T61 machine.

With a proper amount of RAM, reasonably fast HD and the CPU you have coming in - you could use it as your primary laptop. Those older C2D CPU's still have plenty of punch in them.

$60 is an absolute steal for that machine.

Nice looking T61 14'' there! Basically the grandfather of my T410. Only with less power although higher build quality. Congratulations with it. :)

The T7700 upgrade was a success. I left it running benchmarks all night with TPFancontrol installed and it didn't overheat or shutdown.
