You mean the black screen with the pink and blue centrino logo (or yellow and blue Pentium M logo), that appears immediately when you press the power button?

You can actually replace that image by flashing a new one to the BIOS, but there are filesize and type limitations that a lot of people are comfortable messing with. You can search for "bios image" or "logo" on the T-series board for a big thread that explains how to do it and links to the files needed.

It's not Centrino logo or IBM logo. I'd be so please if that appear. It's my department logo. Each time ppl see this logo, i kept hearing this >> " OMG careful, he is from THE department" or " hey u r from this department, can you do me a 'small' favor". My job require me to bring this baby around and often had to access internet in public area for reports and for personal use.

BIOS is supervisor password locked. maybe i could give it a try with thrid party soft. I wish it could be easy without flashing BIOS.

No need to flash the bios, try one of these utilities:

So, is this your machine or your company's machine? I thought your first machine said you bought it. If it's your company's machine with their custom preload, what are their policies about your making changes to the base configuration? If they have strict policies about changing it (and since they have you locked out of, it sounds as if they might), you might want to ask them to change it before making changes to it yourself.

I may be off base here, but is it actually when you boot up? If so, why shut down all the time? Why not Standby or hibernate?

Well sometimes i have to bring it along when im doing field work. I need to reserve the power. often my supervisor need some files/reports immidiately, so i had to use public internet cafe/wireless spot. these spot doesnt sometimes doesnt have power source. standby or hibernate mode for me is only applicable when this notebok is connected to power supply.

One warning about changing the Windows boot screen -- which can be a lot of fun, I was running a neat Matix theme version on Win2k -- which leads me to my story.

When tried to do an upgrade of Win2k to WinXP (too lazy to do a clean install), I got error messages to the effect that there was corruption or something with Win2k and the upgrade could not proceed. Running repairs didn't help. Somehow I figured out that it was because the boot file (boot.ini?) now contained a pointer to a different boot screen image. When I edited to point to the original Win2k boot screen, the problem went away, and I could upgrade no problem.
