WTB: Floppy Drive and Bezel for 755CD

#1 Post by jeffbaichina » Tue Nov 18, 2014 11:30 am

I believe a 755CD when fitting in a floppy drive, needs a bezel to fill in the blank between the case...

Looking for it.

I'm kind of confused as to what you mean.

Is the faceplate of your floppy drive missing?
My "daily drivers":

T520 (4240-48u) - Core i7 2620m (2.7GHz), 8GB RAM, 80GB mSATA SSD, 1TB HDD, nVidia NVS 4200m (Optimus)
T43p (2668-VQ7) - 2.26GHz Pentium M, 2 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD, Radeon Mobility FireGL V3200

I kinda want both in same place, but I think I can find the floppy drive more easily. Basically the main thing I'm looking for here is the face plate.

Sorry for my English.

I ask, because I have an Ultrabay floppy drive, and a 4x CDROM drive, that I kept as a spare.

If you can't find just the faceplate, I'd be willing to sell it to you.

That fits on a 755CD? Can I have the FRU?

Don't remember off the top of my head. When I get back from work, I'd be able to tell you.

They were pulled from a 760XL though. Might not be an exact fit.

Perusing the tpvol2 HMM says that the "Bezel, Diskette Drive" for the 755CD is FRU 85G1889. A couple of online IBM parts suppliers say they sell it but no pictures.

Did some research, they will probably fit since 755s and 760s both use "UltraBay Thick", the dimensions may be the same. Well if you have a 755 you may test it...

Yep... Not sure if they would be legit though.

My problem is that I don't own a 755. I have plenty of 760s though. (And a plethora of spare parts.) My main concern is that the bezel wouldn't be an exact fit. I'll compare FRUs when I get home.

Okay. I would be great if you would spare me a floppy drive too.

Did the 755CSE that you just sold have a floppy?

Another option would be an external floppy....either through the 755CD or the base that you just bought from me. Had I known you were looking for a floppy at the time, I could have tested several of my 760 floppy drives....or the externals that I have.

Yep I just sold it... And shipped it off today.

My plan was to put a floppy on the machine itself, and put a disc drive (which can be much faster than the 2x one came with it) in the dock...
