Welcome to the forum!

Is the key completely dead - as in Fn + PgUp doesn't turn the Thinklight on - or is it just within the OS?

Hi ajkula66,

thank you for the reply.

Yup it dosent turn the thinklight on. non of the other functions are also able to work.(Brightness control, monitor off etc)

Can't seem to figure the problem. i doubt there is any think wrong with the hardware of the Fn key. i did remove and replace the key, cleaning up the dust inside. might be a hotkey patch. but ive already installed the hoykey patch. it still persisit.

I use it mainly to control the brightness. i can't seem to manual adjust the brighness control setting through any other means.
Do let me know if you know of a way to adjust it? (i.e Fn + Home/End)

Does it work in BIOS / before OS is loaded?

Yes, just on the off chance that it's some kind of software that blocks normal operation of Fn key.

Tried using the Fn key during the start up too. No response. still not working.

On another note, does anyone know how to bypass the Fn key and adjust the brightness? (Fn + Home/End)?

I'd suggest trying another known working keyboard...
