Help - need to determine the correct CPU Fan to order

#1 Post by dburr » Thu Dec 04, 2014 8:51 pm

My T410 has started failing boot with a "Fan Error", and indeed it appears as though the fan is starting to wear out. Time to order a replacement. The problem is I can't figure out what the part # I need to order is. My T410 is the Intel Core i5-520M model, which, according to the sticker on the bottom, is "2537-JU5." The problem is that I can't find that model listed in the Hardware Maintenance Manual. (Table 9, "Parts List - Overall," line 25, "Fan assembly, integrated" and "Fan assembly, discrete" on pages 144-145) Can anyone help? Thanks!

That one has integrated graphics.
Fans: 45M2721 or 45M2723
Don't stare yourself blind on the overview of models.
For most laptops it suffices if you know the model (like X201, T410, W500, etc.) as well as the screen-size and what graphics it has.

Thanks for the advice. I was able to find the part numbers you gave and they are on order.
Being an engineer I kinda got caught up in the "the serial numbers have got to match up *exactly*" mindset :)
