T60(p) with LED UXGA

#1 Post by lab » Sat Dec 06, 2014 3:58 am

I'm thinking of selling (not decided yet) selling my T60p. What would be a fair asking price?

Mod to original T60p:

Hydis HV150UX2 LED display UXGA (installed with cable harness for flat cable).

Systemboard Intel integrated graphics which runs completely silent and cool with BIOS mod fan speed. Extra board available as spare.

3 GB RAM (or maybe 4GB, only 3GB can be used anyway).

250 GB SSD (half a year old).

Original battery with approx 60Wh left.

Very good condition, no cracks or scratches.

The P credibility is kind of lost when the original P motherboard is gone, so the display and the SSD (Mainly the display) represent the value here. Also be aware that the level of price is very different between the US and Scandinavia, so this won't make sense for US users. In Norway T60s seem to sell for between 500 - 1200 NKR, depending on seller and OS. Someone listed as high as 1500 NKR, but I don't know if they sell for that. It's been a while since I have bought a T60 now.

Your T60 might be in the upper range or slightly above if you find someone who values the LED UXGA. But unless swedish prices are very different from Norwegian prices, I have a sneaking suspicion that you won't recoup both the SSD and the display, if that's what you're looking for. If you're happy with the SSD, maybe keep it and put it in your new machine?

Good luck with the sale!

I decided to upgrade with a T61 system board and 8GB of RAM instead of selling, I really like the 4:3 display and don't need a fast CPU so an upgrade is probably the most economical and best solution.

Good choice! My T61/R61 based laptops fullfill all my needs for a daily driver, and hopefully will for the next years. Just be aware you get spoiled by that UXGA screen. :)
