swapping processors on t21 board
swapping processors on t21 board
I have a T21 with a dead motherboard - I had blink of death and ruined board with my solder repair.....!
If I buy a working t21 with 800mhz processor, can I fit the 1600mhz processor from my t21?
Basically, if I can I'll try it, but if I can only use the 800 I don't think I'll bother.
TIA, and a merry xmas

Re: swapping processors on t21 board
I believe that you're mistaken: there were no 1600MHz CPUs available in any of the T2x series.
The fastest one was 1GHz Coppermine CPU that some of the T22 units shipped with.
With that said, you can swap in the old CPU onto your new board, as long as the boards are of the same generation.
Good luck.

Re: swapping processors on t21 board
Thanks very much for that info. Actually, I can't think where I got the idea that it was 1600mhz......
I had a look and this was written on the cpu 7116A457 SL53P KP 750/256
Does this mean it's a 750mhz cpu? That's not very powerful is it? I loved the laptop when I used it but think I may put it on Ebay. Cosmetically it's pretty good, screen, battery and psu all were fine - sad to see it go.
Thanks again
Albert

Yessir, that's a 750MHz Intel Mobile Pentium III. A fairly speedy CPU back in it's day.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

eBay/PayPal will charge you more fees than the thing is worth...
