Thinkpad 600x and USB port

#1 Post by ziloo » Sun Dec 14, 2014 6:10 pm

Hello folks,

I have just acquired a Thinkpad 600x running under win 98.

1- What driver do I need to use the USB port?
2- Can I use the USB port with a serial mouse or external HD?

Thank you

ziloo :D

If I remember correctly, Windows 98 has the necessary drivers to activate the 600X's USB port.
The USB devices require their own drivers though.

Serial mouse? Why not use the serial port?

External HD -- This might help: http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php

Here you are http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php

There are two flavours depending on which version of win 98, so double check first.

Also, you can get USB 2.0 on the 600x which is significantly faster with a PCMCIA USB Card which are readily and cheaply available (also some of these cards have 2 or 3 ports so you can run multiple devices).
