Estimated Ship Date

#1 Post by redrumchoy » Wed May 25, 2005 10:58 pm

So on my confirmation email it says estimated ship date is 6/08/05 for my t43p 14"... my online status thing says "Call"

I assume that's a bad sign?

call them and they will tell you!
The online status is useless before it shipped. They are using different database.

I've noted that Lenovo's order status page is more detailed and (for me) more accurate than the IBM one.

My order said "Call". I called them and they could tell me nothing. I think "Call" is the default description for when they do not have a definite ship date yet. However, also be aware that the expected ship date is not definite. My expected ship date for the laptop I just bought was June 1, but I received my laptop on May 24.

My laptop had a ship date of 6/27/05 and the status said "Call". So I geared up for the long wait. Then last weekend it went straight from "Call" to "Packing". It shipped the next day and I picked it up from UPS yesterday. So don't get too distraught, I think lenovo is just having issues with the order tracking system.

Heh, my t42 said 6/23.....then call.....then 6/27.

Except i havent had anything go from call to packing, but we'll see if something happens over the weekend. Not even my port replicator II is ready to ship.

What's odd is that i should be able to use the money that i have it charged to in debit. Even though its (pending) i have no access to it and cant make it work for me.

O well, we'll see how things flow, heh.

Ask the rep, usually, they know the "exact" status from their database

Heh, i called in last thursday....two days after i made my purchase :P

He said 3 weeks....but the "Status: " Line hasnt moved from "within 2-4 weeks."

WTF DOES THAT MEAN?? What's gonna happen in 2-4 weeks??

BAH...if its gonna take this long to get my box, then its gonna be a [censored] good build and be tested to hell before it gets shipped out.

Lenovo's estimates are apparently meaningless. Mine went to "Packing"
several weeks after my order, stayed at "Packing" for one week
and then back to "Backordered" for two more weeks. Now it says
"Contact." Every person I speak with says something different.

Hmm... when I placed my order on Memorial Day, it said ships "within 2 weeks". I just called them today and they said they had a backorder for 4 weeks.

But when I go to http://www.lenovo.com/shop/orderstatus, it still says 2 weeks and the other site https://www.ibm.com/account/orderstatus/us/ is still useless...

The waiting game begins.

Perhaps I have too used to Dell's status tracker that gives out a lot more information. I like information, the more the marrier.

This is like back in the pony express days. You'd go to the general store, order somthing from the Sears & Robuck catalog, and it'd take 4-6wks to show up.

My how times have changed...

I ordered a T43p 2668G5U - (basically whats in your signature) on Friday 5/20 at about 10pm EST. Ship date went from 6/6 to 6/7 then to call for status, and then amazingly it shipped on 5/25. Received it on early on 5/27 (2-day shipping, and was held but customs for a little while), so slightly under a full weeks time from ordering it until I received it.

Very happy with it so far.

Shipping question...

My 9-cell battery, which is temporarily useless :? and in the UPS system, says Hong Kong received the billing information yesterday 6/1/05 at 10:45 am. It's being shipped expressed, 'next day pm'. That means today? Is that even possible? Personally, never had anything shipped to me from half way across the world in under or close to a day. Do you have similiar experiences?

Dumb question here, but are ALL Thinkpad accessories being shipped from China now?
That seems kinda [censored]-backwards if you ask me...

Next Day PM, also known as next day saver is a service level that UPS differentiates packages with. It means it will be delivered from the Service Center to your local hub or spoke, then to you.

Packages can always be late. Service levels mean nothing.

Knew it was too good to be true... :?

Still, HK to Louisville, KY in approx 26 hours ain't bad.. at least by my standards.. 8)

I ordered a 2373M3U on Tuesday.
It went to "packing" yesterday.
Shipped today!!
Less than 48 hours from order to shipping, and it was supposed to be 2-4 weeks.
Looks like Lenovo is getting things in gear!
