Just searched "dual channel" on this forum and read a little bit on the net. You are right, dual channel will improve your performance by 5% or so, so not a big deal. The only big difference is when you have an integrated video card, such as 915GM chipset, then dual channel will make a huge difference.
I think you should trust your machine, when you enable dual channel in BIOS, and the machine is booting, then it must be enabled correctly. Also, I believe the latest testbench suite or some memory testing software will tell you if the dual channel has been enabled or not. Even if they don't, just disable first, run the testbench, turn it on, run the testbench, and see if you have 5% improvement (for memory performance test), then it is OK.
Anyway, I will try out if dual channel works on my machine, I am supposed to receive both the machine and the extra memory next Thursday or so. But I will be very very busy since next Friday on, so I don't know when I will test it.
Cheers
