I ordered the first lappy in my sig on May 25th, the order wasn't official til June 1st. I don't know which is better; not knowing if the order is placed or obsessing over the order invoice and waiting for it to change to that magic word.. shipped

While I was waiting for my laptop I was checking every hour or so. It's just to much excitement. I'm really glad mine came almost a month early, I'm not sure I could have survived waiting until June 27.

4 days.... thats not abnormal or anything it just depends when they get your order "in"... my order for the G2U has been "in process" for the past week and a half but thats cause it was backordered for 10 days ... for me, I assume that they will keep to the estimated shipping date that they had given me of june 8th and that i will receive it sometime during this business week...

by the way, i too have been checking my orderstatus like ever other hour when i have time haha
its either go on the lenovo and ibm orderstatus sites or go on this forum
really, it's probably a sin for me to be lusting over the arrival of my t43p

yea just called customer service today to check on my order status... guy said it was in "packaging" right now (although both the IBM and the Lenovo online order status sites still say within 2 weeks) and that my G2U should be shipped out within the week...

as to Jhaislet i'll be more than willing to answer your questions when i get it.

@Redrumchoy: I sure hope you get your T43p soon! I'm so close to ordering a G2U as well. If you don't mind, I'm gonna have a couple of questions for you when you get it!

Hrrm. I just called them and they said that my G2U is still on two weeks' backorder, suggesting that they're going to get it by the 14th. I suppose that's why they told me my estimated ship date is the 14th also.

JHaislet, I, too, am willing to answer any of your questions once I get it (though it may no longer apply since redrumchoy would've replied for most of them already =).

I just contacted IBM today to ask about the status of my order. I received my 9 cell battery last Friday and that order status for the battery produced a tracking number. At the same time, the status for my laptop said Call. So, I called in and a representative, not mine cuz he's too difficult to get a hold of, stated that the same tracking number the company issued for my battery will apply to my laptop. Is this correct?

While I was on the phone with him, I simultaneously looked up the tracking with UPS and it confirmed that the tracking number had been delivered, last Friday-the battery. He's stating that as a result of me receiving my battery on Friday, I should receive my laptop today or tomorrow. There's no evidence of the system being shipped on the site that I can see and he stated that sometimes going by the site is difficult and to trust him that in his database my laptop has already left the warehouse. Yea? That's great, but how come I can't track it then? He said not to worry and you should receive it shortly, for further help he then proceded to transfer me to my ever absent rep, to which I left a useless message.

Is it true my laptop is on its way and I simply can't track it? Or should I call again and speak to someone else? He seemed very sure of the data and assured me it has left. What do you think?

I ordered it stock, no changes. 1GB RAM arrived same day from 3rd party.

I am a little new to the Thinkpad scene, so forgive me if this question sounds stupid. Is everyone quoting from the IBM status site or the Lenovo site?

The IBM site says that my order is in process while the Lenovo site says that it is in packing.

i check on both sites... from what ive heard Lenovo is more accurate...
in your case "packing" would seem logically more accurate than "in process" since the IBM order status site doesn't have a "packing" stage... i.e. they have "scheduled to ship" as the next step after "in process".... so perhaps your system is being packed thus the "packing" but hasnt officially been scheduled tos hip? thats just my guess...

i want my laptop

okay this is absolutly rediculous

i posted above saying that i called and a rep told me my order was in packaging and would be shipped sometime this week...
guess what
i just checked on my lenovo order status site and it now boldly says "Your order has been backordered please call for more information"

what is that junk? this is absolutly infuriating!

no... i actually wondered about that and if it made a difference... i never heard anything SUGGESTING that they knew ive called before nor have i mentioned i've called before however i just sent an email out to "MY" sales rep explaining what happened the times i've called and what not (but that's like 5 mins ago heh)

Not to rain on anyone's parade... but after all that [censored] I did today to the rep(s), I just by chance - for one last time checked my email before heading to sleep and I get an email saying that at 12:42 am Eastern time my laptop has shipped!

Now, Im trying not to get my hopes too high.. but everywhere I check - IBM or Lenovo order status sites, and matching old emails, they all confirm it's shipping.. then they say my tracking number will be available tomorrow morning. Now Ive heard crazy stories.. so I will take it with a grain of a salt til I receive my tracking #.

But thought you'd like to know, this wasn't supposed to ship so soon... so I guess sometimes they actually do surprise their customers... either that or they like to play awful tricks.

Still wondering about mine. I ordered May 14th, the original ship date was July 14th but now it's August 3rd. According to the rep however, it is backordered but the supply chain says they'll (or mine at least) be in about 1.5 weeks from now. Add another week for the build and then it should ship and I'd see it before the end of June.

I'll see it when I believe it but after he said that if it starts dipping in to July and later I'm going to start milking freebies out of them!

Last night, I checked the IBM order status site and it said that my order had shipped. Of course, it wasn't in the UPS system yet, but it shipped.

But the Lenovo site said that it was still in packing.

Today, the Lenovo site said it shipped via UPS Next Day PM... whatever that is. I remember picking UPS Ground, so maybe they messed something up?

I have changed from T43 to T42, I am pretty happy with this T42 now.

Perfect LCD(Samsung), Thai Key board, and cooler!

I changed my order at June 3, shipped same day, received at June 6.

After 2 weeks of agony, drunk sales reps, messed up online order status and a bowl of sphagetti, my order has shipped from HK!

Hope it doesnt take too long from there. Ordered 512 stick from Newegg too.

Woohooo! My order now says shipped, earlier today it was 'Billing received' and that was it.. officially, I also have a tracking number! It also says 'in transit'. I got a buddy who also had ship today.. they must doing a big grouped order or something. Thinkpad on its way.

I ordered a T43p 2687-EJU (CTO) last week. The estimated ship date was 8/3. The status started as "System Hold" and changed to "Backordered" yesterday.

Today I called. The rep said there are 7 EJU's in stock. Lenovo has orders for 9, but I am one of the first 7. All other components are in stock. He said an estimated ship date should be available in the next day or two.

I don't know if this is the ol' BS or not, but the guy sounded competent and took the time to look into each component.

We'll see....

so i wake up this morning to check my status again... iw as infuriated yesterday night because someone had told me it was in "packing" and my online status had changed to "backordered." Welp, my lenovo status is "packing" now sothat brightens me up a little bit too bad it was "packing" once already and it changed back to "within 2 weeks" so i hope this time is for real!

As ironic as it can be.. I was reading the new posts on the forum, and when I was almost finished with this thread, the doorbell rang. It was UPS. With a computer. From Dell. Now, I don't know who else in my family needs another laptop, but, uh, it would've nice if it came from Lenovo instead. =P

Anyone know how long it will take something to ship UPS Next Day PM? Is this just to the IBM distribution center, or will it be sent directly here?

I looked at my order confirmation and it says that my order will be shipped UPS Ground. I did not get an e-mail saying that my order was shipped Online, it says it will shipped UPS Next Day PM. UPS' site says Express Delivery Conf. Plus, the UPS site has the pickup scan at a time in the future! What is all this madness? I am officially confused!

I don't think I have ever checked to UPS site so many times. I might as well set it as my homepage. All of this uncertainity is definitely driving me mad. I wish IBM/Lenovo would have given a definite date when everything would be done and when it would arrive. Then, I would be able to keep what is left of my hair
