X230 recovery disk problems

#1 Post by kevinc » Tue Dec 30, 2014 1:02 am

I ran the X230 recovery disk set to revert back to the original WIN 7 from WIN 8. The process seemed to go normally but on bootup I received an 0xc000000f error in Windows\system32\winload.exe. "The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt." The message suggested I use a WIN 7 install disk and restart and select " Repair your computer." I did so and screen said that Win was unable to repair the install.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Only thing I can think of is to first verify the integrity of the drive using the manufacturer's diagnostic program. If that comes back okay, then completely wipe the HD and re-install. You can use a utility/diagnostic that does a full disk erase or put the drive into another computer/laptop and delete the partitions.

I tried the restore disks a second time and got a "bootmgr is missing" message. Then I took your suggestion and used a bootable utility disk to delete all partitions. The restore disks worked perfectly.
Thanks...Happy New Year.

Yeah, I have the X230T as my main system. I replaced the original drive with a Samsung SSD 840 500GB. Same deal, had to make sure the disk had no partition definition at all for the Win7 Restore DVD to function correctly.
