X200s inverter whine
X200s inverter whine
Hello!
Is some backlight inverter noise normal on the X200s? (part no. 7469W92)
It's definitely audible in a quiet room and its frequency seems to shift according to the brightness level. It's most audible at intermediate brightness settings and it disappears once the lid is closed.
I'm pretty sure it's the inverter as its noise amplifies if I press on the "Lenovo" marking, which is just in front of the coil.
Not sure if it's just dying out or if it's a known issue I must learn to live with.
Thanks for your help.

Re: X200s inverter whine
Don't know about the X200s specifically, but I have the same scenario as yours with my T23 that I got slightly a year ago. Haven't noticed any problems, and probably isn't something to worry about.

I don't think its up to the LCD inverter. I Bought a new motherboard for my X200 and the noise was decreased a lot, although still audible.

Re: X200s inverter whine
Your X200s model comes ex factory with a 1280x800 screen, which probably has a CCFL-inverter, but it could also be a LED-board.
Before you buy any replacement parts, open up the LCD (using the HMM manual) and check the inverter/board (small strip along the bottom of the LCD) for a P/N or FRU
Inverter: 42W8009 or 42W8010
LED-board: 45M2812

Re: X200s inverter whine
I've bought a 42W8010 part, we'll see how the replacement goes.
Thanks

Re: X200s inverter whine
I tried a replacement inverter board as well, noise was not decreased whatsoever.
