Problem recovery to original Factory State
Hi,
I have T43p and for some reason i must replace my IDE HDD to Non Thinkpad harddisk (Samsung)
First boot, there is Error 2010 (compability issue about Non Thinkpad Harddisk).
I continue this process and boot from Startup Recovery CD and trying to recover to original factory state. All files from CD 1 until 5 have been success copied and my Thinkpad restart automatically and trying to recover BUT the recover process have been failed and can not continue.
can anybody explain why?
thank you before
regards
Richard

Re: Problem recovery to original Factory State
The recovery set for T43/p contains:
a) a Rescue & Recovery CD
b) disks 1-6
c) supplemental R&R disk
While the "supplemental" disk is not required, it seems that you're missing CD # 6, and the process can't be completed without that one...

Any way you choose to look at it, you ARE missing one disk. It may very well not be the disk # 6.kerenbanget69 wrote:Thank You..

I'd suggest getting an entire set and starting the process over, or given the fact that XP has gotten very long in the tooth just move on to W7 which will run decently enough on your system.
Good luck.

Re: Problem recovery to original Factory State
I would reset the BIOS to the default settings. I've had factory restores hang until I reset the BIOS.
The IBM/Lenovo XP and Vista restore process is very complicated compared to the newer one for Windows 7. I just did a Vista factory restore for an X61 Tablet and the whole procedure took a while. The software checked the machine and copied all the right drivers onto the C: drive. It also allowed me to chose what applications to include in the recovery so I didn't have to install bloatware like an old Norton AV trial and Picassa. Then it finally booted into Vista and then spent around 40 minutes installing drivers with multiple reboots. The Windows 7 restore for my X201 just copied an image of the Windows 7 install onto the disk and booted it. No hardware analysis or opportunity to choose what was going to go into the restored system. All the drivers were already installed and I just had to create an account and do network settings.

Currently using: A W500, a W520, an X201T, an X220T, an X61T, a 14" T60P,a 15" UXGA T60P and a W700.
Currently idle: A spare W500, a spare X61T, a spare W700, a 14" T61, a 15" SXGA+ T60, a 14" T60, and my first Thinkpad, a 770X.
