PC Doctor DOS Version Urgent Help

#1 Post by LemarAntwanJackson » Mon Jan 05, 2015 3:20 pm

In the past the PC Doctor (Windows version) which came with my T61 permitted identifying the date of manufacture of the screen shipped with the computer. I tried this with the PC Doctor (Windows version) shipped with my X201. From what I read the T61 version is not compatible with the X201 version. But there might be a DOS version which can help me with what I need to do. Can you folks help or know anything about this?

I'm not sure if PC Doctor for DOS can give you the manufacturing date of the LCD but I'll check if my X200s can tonight if you don't get a response beforehand. It's the closest system I have to an X201.

In the meantime, here's a list of some hardware probers that might do the trick: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/page/download_id

edit: Upon further review, you can get what you need by using an EDID reader: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/dump_edid.html
The downloaded .ZIP file contains a stand-alone .exe file. Run it in a DOS session and you should find Manufacture Week (week/year).
There's also a Windows version that does the same thing: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/monitor_info_view.html

NOTE: All links to PC-Doctor software hosted by me are dead. Files removed 8/28/12 by manufacturer's demand.

I don't know where you got this piece of info from, but it is incorrect.

Moninfo is by far the best tool - and free at that - for what you need.

Both of you are rock stars for your help. I ended up using the EnTech Taiwan software and it showed the info I needed.

As far as PC Doctor having such capability, it did at one point for my T61 as I discovered I got a years old LCD in my notebook and queried Lenovo. Subsequent to that, they changed its capability but there were definitely versions of PC Doctor which had such capability.
