Disable Screen AutoRotation in Windows 7 / X220T

#1 Post by aPanzerIV » Thu Jan 08, 2015 1:48 pm

We bought a X220 Tablet for my sister for Christmas, she uses it for photoshop and as virtual paper.

I have 2 questions:

When she puts it into tablet mode it automatically puts the screen in Primary Portrait mode, and she finds this very annoying. I've looked up how to disable it but apparently the only people that care about disabling it use Windows 8, and the option (and registry entry) to disable it don't exist in 7. How do I disable it?

She's in vet school and last semester she wrote about 5 binders worth of paper in notes. She is going to use the tablet mainly to replace that paper, what's a good program to turn her handwriting into text?

In Windows 7, Devices and Printers->(computer name)->Under Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools, click Tablet Utility and uncheck Enable ActiveRotate. That's for a machine with the stock Lenovo Windows 7 image.

On a clean install, I believe you have to install some "Device experience" tool thing and tablet drivers to get to that menu.

Thank you very much!

The screen no longer rotates without input from the button, and she says that Onenote will work perfectly.

Much appreciated!
