T430 vs T431 display connections

#1 Post by zombielinux » Mon Jan 12, 2015 4:39 pm

As most of us know, the T430 uses an LVDS connection and the T431 uses eDP. Does anyone have access to high resolution images of the motherboard of both (preferably without the black tape all over it).

Looking back over the chipset of the T430, it appears that the Intel chip supports eDP. The Nvidia chip would also have to if the optimus feature is multiplexed, if it isn't, and is instead done in series, then how the nvidia chip connects is irrelevant.

If the Intel chip is running the show, amd communicating via eDP to somewhere, there has to be a converter to get it to LVDS. Since there are a few display ports running around already (one out the back and two through the dock connector), I'd wager there is an eDP to LVDS connector somewhere.

I wonder if you pulled the DP signal from before that chip. Another question is if the motherboard changed all that much between the 430 and 431. If that's the case, there might just be a unpopulated header on the board somewhere.

Would someone with access to the boards be willing to take a few pictures for me?
