Thinkpad X300 SSD brands/models compatible?

#1 Post by chrbar » Sat Jan 17, 2015 8:31 pm

Hello,

I've a ThinkPad X300 laptop with a 64GB SSD drive and I would like to upgrade to a 128 or 256 SDD drive.

Currently my drive model is a Samsung MCCOE64G8MPP SSD 64 GB SATA 3Gb/s.
This drive and its rack inside the laptop have a specific design!
Do you know which SSD brands/models are compatible with this laptop?

Does someone have tried to use a "mSATA (mini-SATA) to Micro SATA Adapter" with a "mSATA drive" (Crucial M550 for example)?
Does it fit and work correctly?

Can I use SSD SATA II and III, or SATA II only?

Thanks for your help,
Chris

Yes, people have been using mSATA to 1.8" adapters on X30* platform.

You can use both SATA III and SATA II although the machine will always run at SATA II speeds.
