Good find, although that's not going to help. It didn't help buyers of Samsung's expensive video cameras with defective CCD censors about a decade ago.

Furthermore, who's to say that the 850 Evo does not have the same flaw?

BTW, in case someone missed it, there is now clear and indisputable evidence, that the "fix" issued by Samsung a few month ago does not fix the issue - only makes it go away temporarily. This suggests it is merely the effect of "refreshing" the data on the drive. So far such periodic "refreshing" is the only thing 840 series users can do to consistently keep the drive at peak performance.

Just making sure, this does not affect 840 PRO drives, correct?

Thanks for the info.

My T410 is using a 250GB EVO drive. It still feels very fast to me, but I ran the utility anyway.

I didn't notice any increase in boot speed or application launch times.
New:
Thinkpad T430s 8GB DDR3, 1600x900, 128GB + 250GB SSD's, etc.

830 is still probably my favorite of the samsungs.
