Anybody else here in NorCal going? And will some of the die-hard SoCal fans make the trek up north? I'll be in the nosebleed seats (Section 405).

San Jose is in Northern California, which despite its name, is geographically in the center of the state (if you consider north-to-south length). It's located about 40 miles south of the "bigger" city in these parts which is San Francisco. Los Angeles is about 360 miles south of San Jose, which puts it squarely in Southern California. The National Hockey League has scheduled some outdoor games in various places around the country and Canada in the last several years, usually in the colder climates. Last year, a game was held in the not-so-cold city of Los Angeles and was very well received. This year, for the first time, an outdoor game is being played in NorCal at the new San Francisco 49ers football stadium (American football, not that global sport where you kick a mostly white ball around the field with your feet or bounce it off your head). The 49ers Levi's Stadium is NOT in San Francisco. It's actually in Santa Clara, about 5 miles north of San Jose. The game has added significance as Los Angeles is last year's league champion, having defeated San Jose in the first round of qualifying matches. Well, I should say that San Jose imploded as they were leading a best-of-seven series, 3-to-0. LA won the last four games in a row. It's also important as both teams are currently in the race for the playoffs.

A San Jose loss last night (2-1 Kings) but still an enjoyable game.
