t61 screen issue
t61 screen issue
hi all
i have a t61. for the last few weeks the screen has been a little reddish, especially when the computer is just starting up. today the screen has started to go out, not all the way out, ie completely black, but to the point where you have to hold it flat to barely see the cursor moving around. the screen will work for a bit when i turn it on and maybe 5 or 10 minutes or less depending, but then it flickers really quickly for a second and goes almost dark. is this a chip problem? what do i need to do to get this running again?

Re: t61 screen issue
You need a new screen.
Red/pink hue on boot is a dead giveaway for a failing backlight (CCFL) and no other defect manifests itself in this manner.
Happy shopping.

Re: t61 screen issue
Thanks. I was hoping it would be easy to identify. Do you or anyone else know if there's variation amongst the t61 screens? if i take one out of another t61 should it work?
