Don't be afraid of the T43p!

#1 Post by Bluecat » Sat May 28, 2005 5:17 am

Just got my T43p yesterday and it is great! Writing this at Heathrow Airport on my way from Cologne to Chicago.

Build quality is fantastic, I was used to an A22m but tis is much better (of course probably). Lid flexes a bit, but it is so thin! No bad pixels as far as I can see, but have not checked wth software. Screen is beautiful, half glossy and usable at pretty low settings. Keyboard great as well.

To my surprize I like the sound on this laptop. I know, no heavy basses, but clear all round sound. Have heard much, much worse.

Fingerprint reader works very well. Reading 10 out of 10 swipes. Not bad!

Noise? Well I am a classical musician and quite sensitive, so yes, I can hear the fan, especially at startup. Never as loud as my A22m though. The only sound you hear later on is air softly pushing through the vent, not the fan itself, and quite softly (did I mention that?) so it really doesn't bother me. The laptop never turns hot, I have done only standard stuff, wireless browsing and office. Under the touchpad still cool (although I have to say I am now on maximum battery life settings). Yesterday it got a bit hotter when I was copying stuff from an external drive.

Just walked past a Sony S1, noise was amazing compared to T43p. Could hear fan and hard drive wizzing. No drive sound at all on the T43p.

I guess if you are used to absolute silence in your house or office you would hear it all on the T43p. I can only say, I eny people that live in silent surroundings......

Wish hibernation in and out would be faster, but with 1 gig, I guess this is acceptable.

Sorry for the messy report, but just waned to give another point of view. We already know the benchmarks for this baby..... and the usual complaints.

Well, I am one very happy critter 8) .

Cat, in your sig, are you sure the model code is correct? I wasn't able to find a G2G in the Tabook. However, I did find a G2U.

Thanks

Screen is very bright for me. Don't know what to compare it with though. When the room is dark you can bring down the brightness to two bars.
