how to remove stickers - safely

#1 Post by beerak » Sat May 28, 2005 10:37 am

Hi,

I have a problem with strickers (centrino, designed for blabla). Now in the summer they're going to move by heat and making glued paths. How can I remove them safely and how can I clear the glue under them ? With gasoline or ethylen ? Thanks for advices.
Let's go'n'restart :-)

I remove stickers with my wife's hair dryer. No residue. Clean. Works great on package labels, too.

Gasoline?
Big no no...
I'm not sure about that Goo Gone stuff, but it worked fine on my airsoft gun, but its mostly metal, try spraying it on something that uses the same type of plastic as your thinkpad, and not worth any value to you. Then if it damages it, don't try.

My stickers just peeled off. Then I rubbed at the very small amount of residue with my finger, and it disappeared.

Finally I did the same. I think it is the best way (I hope).

I used Goo Gone to remove the Centrino and Windows XP stickers; worked like a charm. No residue; like they were never there.

Exactly what I did. If there's any residue you can't get off, a bit of isopropyl alcohol should take care of it.

For adhesive, rubbing with nose grease (cooking oil, if you don't have a nose) is a safe solvent for sticky adhesives. Then you have to clean the grease off. :-)

I hate these stickers and I am happy I removed them off. That is the most silly thing on those machines.

Yeah, they just peel off, then you can use the sticker to get all the rest of the residue on there. No need for any bottle of goo anything. :D

I peeled off the stickers which got most of the glue off. what was left I rubbed a little and then used the stickers to pull off the rest of the glue...it took me about a minute in total

I used my finger nail to peal the stickers off. Some glue was left on the laptop, and some was on the sticker. I then pressed a part of the sticker that had glue on against the glue that was left on the laptop and bounced it around that way. On each bounce my sticker glue pile got bigger, and less glue was on the laptop. In less then a minute the glue was off the laptop.
